Momiji's Japan
Momiji's Japan is a free guide to everyday life, travel and culture in Japan. It is for people who are planning a trip, or who are just curious about the country. Along the way, Momiji the fawn shows you how things work.
The site is run by Small Things, Japan, an independent English-language YouTube channel made in Japan. The site goes with our videos, and new places and topics come with new videos.
Momiji is a character, a fawn with a maple leaf on its head. She is not a real person. Momiji is our guide through the site and the channel, including the short series "Momiji's Manners" on YouTube.
We use AI tools as part of our work, for example to help research, draft and edit text, and to help make some images and voices for videos. We label AI-generated images and synthetic voices when they appear in our content. For facts about rules and customs, we link to official or primary sources where we can. The 3D scenes on this site are built with code.
Customs and rules vary by place, and they change. When in doubt, watch what locals do and follow the signs. If you find a mistake, please tell us at [email protected].
